Creating as I have been created, seeing as I have been seen.
I am Sarah Church, a Tennessee based artist. I have been honing my skills in the arts since 2015, with a focus in drawing, painting, ceramics, and graphic design. I graduated from Mars Hill University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. I am inspired by the Realists, rendering the world around me as it has been created and emphasizing the beauty it already holds, as God intended it to be. In my art, I seek the details in the mundane and overlooked subjects, scenes, and experiences of everyday life, bringing the background of life to the forefront. My foundation in Christianity inspires my desire to create and to appreciate what has been created for us by a loving God. In this way, my work focuses mainly on the people, places, and objects that are underappreciated and unglamorous. I seek beauty in the raw emotions, unmasked personalities, natural settings, and true stories around us every day which point us back to the Creator. Before completing my technical training at Mars Hill University, I sold works as a commissioned artist. During my time at Mars Hill, my work was featured in the Cadenza Art and Literary Magazine annually from 2016 to 2020. My work was also been showcased in the Weizenblatt Gallery in Mars Hill, North Carolina annually from 2017 to 2020, and again in 2022. I have won many honors for my work in multiple gallery shows and competitions since 2013, including Best in Show and First Place honors, among others. |
